Severe weather, high winds possible in Mississippi Saturday

Mississippi has enjoyed a beautiful week with above-average temperatures reaching into the 80s, and while warm temperatures are expected to persist into next week, a cold front is forecast to move in and bring the potential for severe thunderstorms on Saturday, March 7.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, chances of showers and possible thunderstorms begin Friday, March 6, and continue though the weekend. The agency has issued a Marginal Risk, or Level 1 Threat, for severe thunderstorms on Saturday.

For North Mississippi, the highest chance of severe weather is expected during Saturday morning into early afternoon.
