JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police announced a man was arrested in connection to the hit-and-run death of a bicyclist.
Police said Shannon Thomas, 57, was arrested on March 6, 2026, and charged with murder, attempted murder and leaving the scene. His vehicle was towed and will be processed as evidence.

The incident occurred in the 4800 block of Chastain Drive on March 4, 2026.
According to police, two people were on a bicycle when they were intentionally struck by a vehicle. Police said Kaitlyn Mangum Gast, 21, of Brandon, died at the scene, and a 36-year-old man was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
