‘It helps everybody’ Chance is just looking to pass the bat back

Bryce Chance entered tonight’s contest with Jackson State batting .436 to lead all Bulldogs, and he was doing it mainly out of the nine hole in the lineup. The Madison, Mississippi, native has been on campus for five years now, has produced a lot over that time, and is on pace for a career year. Still, his approach is not to be the hero but to set up his teammates to do the damage.

“I believe knowing who the guys are batting behind me is very important because if I can get on ahead of Ace Reese, Noah Sullivan, and Aidan Teel, then good things will happen,” Chance explained. “That is something that I am always aware of because if I can find a way on base, then I will probably score. It only helps everybody.”

Chance got moved out of the nine-hole today, a spot that he has been in for most of the season. State skipper Brian O’Connor penciled him in as the two-hole hitter behind Teel, and it worked out as he had a two-RBI double and drew a walk in State’s 17-1 win over the Tigers. Chance was batting behind Teel today, but he batted ahead of him this past weekend in Fayetteville, and the pair combined to get on 16 times over the three games and seemed to always be in the middle of a Bulldog rally…
