Robotic surgery system offers new tools for doctors, faster recovery for patients at St. Dominic

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Advances in robotic surgery systems are changing how doctors perform procedures and how quickly patients recover. With the help of systems like the da Vinci 5 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, doctors can now perform procedures with more precise tools to help patients experience a quicker recovery.

The system allows doctors to use their hands to guide the machinery during surgeries. It provides a 4K view and new tools to measure the exact amount of force being applied to the patient.

“With having 3D vision and now having the ability to have force on the instrumentation just allows you to operate on a console in a minimally invasive approach almost exactly like you would doing an open procedure,” said Dr. Paul Seago, a gynecologic oncologist at St. Dominic.

The da Vinci 5 is used for numerous procedures, ranging from gynecological and lung procedures to prostate surgery…
