UPDATE: Rankin County deputy struck by vehicle while directing school traffic

RANKIN CO., Miss. (WLBT) – A Rankin County Sheriff’s Department deputy assigned as a school resource officer was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic Tuesday morning on Star Road, according to Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey.

Bailey said he was in his car around 7 a.m. when he heard the deputy call for help over the scanner.
