Attorney: Welfare scandal defendants should stick with plea deals, despite Ted DiBiase Jr. acquittal

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A former assistant district attorney in Hinds County says other individuals tied to the largest welfare scandal in state history likely shouldn’t seek to change their plea deals.

On Friday, a jury found Ted DiBiase Jr. not guilty on multiple federal counts tied to the misuse of millions of dollars in Temporary Assistance for Needy Family (TANF) funds.

In light of that verdict, we asked Jackson attorney Shaun Yurtkuran what he would tell the remaining defendants, six of whom have already entered guilty pleas in state or federal court, or both…
