Jackson State Falls to Bethune-Cookman 13-2 in SWAC Series

Jackson State dropped the second game of its Southwestern Athletic Conference series against Bethune-Cookman 13-2 Saturday at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach. The Tigers, now 13-15 overall and 4-4 in SWAC play, collected eight hits in the loss.

Robert Tate Jr. led Jackson State at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a sacrifice hit. Tyree Reed added two hits in four at-bats, while Wilbert Perez drew two walks and scored a run. Starting pitcher Derek Arrocha took the loss, working five innings and allowing eight runs, seven earned, on 10 hits with three strikeouts.

Bethune-Cookman opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single from Darryl Lee and a sacrifice fly by Maikol Lucena. The Wildcats extended their lead in the second inning with a pair of unearned runs, including an RBI single from Almonte.
