Montgomery, Ala. — Jackson State’s softball team lost 4-0 to Alabama State on Saturday afternoon, despite a resilient effort both offensively and in the circle. The Tigers outhit the Hornets 6-4 but left too many runners on base and committed defensive errors that contributed to the defeat.
Jackson State (18-15, 10-3 SWAC) started strong, with Ka’Liyah Gipson leading off with a single and stealing second base. Ariana Murillo followed with a walk, putting two runners on with no outs. However, Alabama State escaped the jam, a recurring theme in the game.
