Jackson residents continue to push back against Wood Street name change proposal

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Residents of Wood Street packed a city council meeting Tuesday night to oppose a proposal to rename their street after Jackson State University’s band director.

Ward 3 Councilman Kenneth Stokes proposed renaming Wood Street in honor of Dr. Roderick Little, JSU’s current band director, who grew up in the area. But residents made their opposition clear during a public hearing.
