JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – After a fairly quiet stretch, our weather pattern is turning more active heading into late week and the weekend. While exact rain coverage is still uncertain, the overall setup is trending wetter, with increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms and a return of higher humidity. A few storms could become strong to severe at times, and some locations could see locally heavy rainfall.
Friday into Friday night is the main period to watch in the short term. The atmosphere will be hotter, more humid, and more unstable, which supports more storm development and better organization. Some storms may form during the afternoon, and additional storms developing upstream could move into the area later in the day or during the evening. A few storms could be strong to severe, with damaging winds and hail as the main concerns, along with heavy downpours.
Storm chances continue into Saturday and Sunday. Another round of organized storms could potentially develop and move through Sunday into Sunday night…
