FBI Social Media Sting Puts Jacksonville Man Behind Bars For 10 Years

A Jacksonville man is heading to federal prison for a decade after falling for an undercover FBI sting on a popular social media app. U.S. District Judge Jordan E. Pratt sentenced 38-year-old Jerry Alexander Cobb to 10 years behind bars for attempting to entice a 13-year-old into sexual activity.

U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the sentence, noting that Cobb pleaded guilty to the charges earlier this year on February 20. Once Cobb finishes his prison term, he will have to complete 12 years of supervised release and register as a sex offender.

Court documents outline how the arrest stemmed from a two-week undercover operation during the summer of 2025. Between July 18 and August 1, an FBI agent posed as a minor on a social media app to track down adults looking to exploit children.
