Nighttime closures planned for I-10 in Jacksonville July 12-14

Commuters can expect nighttime closures and detours at several I-10 interchanges as part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s ongoing widening project between I-295 and I-95, according to a news release from the department.

Closures are scheduled from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, July 12 through Tuesday, July 14, weather permitting. The work may affect travel times for drivers navigating the area during those hours.

Key detours planned for I-10 and connecting streets

Sunday, July 12 and Monday, July 13

  • I-10 East at Cassat Avenue closed: Drivers will be rerouted to Cassat Avenue, then left on Cassat, right on Beaver Street, right on Stockton Street, and left on Rosselle Street to rejoin I-10.
  • Cassat Avenue on-ramp to I-10 East closed: Northbound Cassat Avenue drivers will turn right on Highway Avenue and right on McDuff Avenue to access I-10. Southbound drivers will turn left on Lenox Avenue, continuing as it becomes Rayford Street to reach I-10 East.
  • Rayford Street on-ramp to I-10 East closed: Drivers will continue on Rayford Street past McDuff Avenue to access I-10.

Tuesday, July 14

  • I-10 West at Stockton Street closed: Southbound I-95 drivers will detour onto U.S. 1 North (Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway) to Edgewood Avenue, then left on Edgewood to Cassat Avenue to reach I-10. Northbound I-95 drivers will detour via Irene Street, left on Irene, right on Stockton Street, left on Edison Avenue and left on McDuff Avenue to access I-10 West.
  • Forest Street on-ramp to I-10 West closed: Drivers will detour to Edison Avenue and turn left on McDuff Avenue to reach I-10.

Long-term project expected to finish in 2026

The closures are part of a $174.5 million project to widen I-10 between I-295 and I-95. Superior Construction is handling the work, which is expected to be completed in fall 2026, according to the announcement.
