A New Jersey-based cold-chain logistics company has opened an e-commerce fulfillment center in North Jacksonville, leasing 55,000 square feet inside a temperature-controlled warehouse near JAXPORT and planning to hire between 50 and 75 employees per shift as it ramps up operations this fall. ColdTrack expects to pack and ship its first customer-delivery boxes a week after Labor Day, starting with a single shift before scaling with demand.
The company, which provides pick-and-pack, logistics and software services for cold and frozen e-commerce brands, announced on August 4 that it would open in Jacksonville as its second new site launched in the past year, according to the Jacksonville Daily Record. Jacksonville marks ColdTrack’s fifth fulfillment campus, joining two locations in California and one each in Indianapolis and New Jersey. The Jacksonville expansion, the company said, enhances its support for temperature-sensitive brands throughout the Southeast.
A Deliberate Step Inside FlexCold’s Northside Campus
ColdTrack leased space inside FlexCold’s temperature-controlled fulfillment center at 11180 Blasius Road, a facility FlexCold built on 23.8 acres through 11180 Blasius Road LLC, per the Jacksonville Daily Record’s reporting. The Jacksonville operation will be run by ColdTrack’s own operations team and employees, led locally by Jerad Aubrey, who serves as ColdTrack Jacksonville’s local director of operations.
The site includes high-density mobile racking, a temperature-controlled dock, and refrigerated storage ranging from 34 to 36 degrees Fahrenheit alongside frozen storage between -10 and 0 degrees Fahrenheit and ambient storage from 60 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Per Warren Siebert, the space also offers vertical storage expansion equivalent to an 80,000- to 100,000-square-foot storage option as the company scales. The 55-foot clear height ceilings and mobile racking that moves pallets are designed to help ColdTrack move refrigerated and frozen goods as quickly as possible, the outlet reported.
FlexCold’s Buildout And City Incentives
FlexCold opened the 150,000-square-foot Phase 1 portion of the campus in October 2022 and added a roughly 195,000-square-foot Phase 2 in 2024, according to the Jacksonville Daily Record. The full facility, located east of Interstate 295 at 2920 Faye Road, southwest of Faye and Blasius roads, was expected to cost $115 million and include 346,000 square feet of space, ultimately offering more than 350,000 square feet of chilled and frozen storage, more than 55,000 pallet positions, on-site blast freezing, and cooling and freezing capacity from -10 to 35 degrees Fahrenheit…
