Nassau County’s closest red tide sampling sites are all showing improvement, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC) most recent red tide status report, published Friday, Aug. 21, with samples collected through Aug. 19.
St. Marys Inlet, the nearest tested water to Amelia Island at about two miles north, has fallen for the second straight reading period. Levels there registered medium on Aug. 13, dropped to low by Aug. 17, and were down to very low by Aug. 19.
