A Mandarin property has prompted complaints from neighbors who say accumulated trash, furniture and appliances are attracting rodents to nearby homes. Susan Philipps, who has lived in the area with her husband for about five years, says the problem has persisted for years. Dennis Philipps wants to know what further steps the city can take.
The property is in Jacksonville’s Mandarin area, according to Action News Jax. Philipps described stoves, a refrigerator, furniture, stacked wood and a bright orange van that was partly parked in the road among the items at the property.
Philipps said the city cleared the property in 2023, but the clutter later returned. Neighbors say they have experienced rodent problems in their own homes and attribute them to the accumulated items next door. Action News Jax also reported that the city returned to the property in July 2026, so its account describes more than one city visit.
