Man charged in Jacksonville mother’s 1987 cold case killing to appear in court Thursday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 70-year-old Middleburg man charged with second-degree murder and armed burglary with assault or battery in connection with the 1987 beating death of Jacksonville mother Melissa Ellison will be back in court on Thursday.

Gary Glowacz entered a not guilty plea on Aug. 13.

Glowacz’s arrest in July came after he reportedly called Clay County Sheriff’s Office dispatch and told them he wanted to provide information about Ellison’s death. By the end of that day, he was in handcuffs…
