Gale-Force Gusts, Floods and Dangerous Surf to Batter Jacksonville Beaches and St. Johns River Through Monday

Gusty winds, scattered showers, coastal flooding and dangerous surf are set to make Saturday through Monday a rough stretch, especially near the beaches, Intracoastal Waterway and St. Johns River.

Wind And Showers Arrive Saturday

Saturday’s high will reach about 72 degrees, with scattered coastal showers shifting onshore through the day. North-northeast winds are expected, with coastal gusts of 40 to 45 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville.

A Wind Advisory takes effect at noon Saturday and continues until 1 a.m. Sunday. Showers could arrive in waves through the afternoon and evening, with a few heavier downpours possible near the coast and along the St. Johns River basin.

Sunday Stays Windy Before Sunshine Returns

Sunday will bring another chance of showers and a high near 73 degrees. From Sunday through Monday, sustained winds of 25 to 30 mph and frequent gusts of 35 to 45 mph are expected at coastal locations. Monday will have low stratus cloud cover across most of northeast Florida and coastal southeastern Georgia, with a high near 73 degrees…
