Mayor Donna Deegan’s former chief of staff moves to new job in Neighborhoods Department

Mayor Donna Deegan’s former chief of staff Pat McCollough has landed a new job in the city Neighborhoods Department that still will keep her connected to Deegan as a top adviser.

McCollough will serve as special assistant to the mayor on civic engagement and youth participation.

McCollough, who managed Deegan’s winning campaign for mayor, was one her first hires as mayor and worked as chief of staff from July through the end of 2023. Florida Blue executive Darnell Smith took over on Jan. 2 as Deegan’s chief of staff through an executive-on-loan program from the insurance corporation.

McCollough will earn a $175,000 salary for her role in the Neighborhoods Department.

The Neighborhoods Department is in charge of the neighborhood and housing services office, housing and community development, municipal code compliance, environmental quality, mosquito control, animal control and protective services, and the office of City Link.
