Detroit-Style Pizzeria, Electric Pizza Dough Co., Gets Approval For First Florida Store

From writing about restaurants for years on Newsbreak, I have learned that some Floridians embrace pizza styles from other regions. For example, articles about Violet Stone, which serves Philly-style pizza, and New York-style Salvatore’s Old Fashion Pizzeria generated much interest. And now, a Detroit-style pizzeria has gotten the green light to begin construction of an eatery inside of the historic San Marco Theatre.

What’s Detroit-Style Pizza, Anyway?: While many people know about New York and Chicago-style pizzas, I’d suspect fewer are familiar with Detroit-style pizza. About Electric Pizza Dough Co.: Chef Tom Gray, who owns eateries Prati Italia and Town Hall, has been planning to bring Electric Pizza Dough Company to Jacksonville since earlier this year. The eatery will serve pizza with handmade, long-fermented dough made in specialty ovens along with seasonal salads, gelato, and sorbet. Additionally, customers can get take-and-bake pizzas and pasta.
