Tikka bowls and tacos: Indian-Mexican fusion concept plans 3rd Jacksonville-area location

Two global cuisines will come together as a popular Indian-Mexican fusion restaurant founded by two local brothers expands to a second location in Jacksonville.

Known for fresh, made-to-order customizable bowls and tacos, Tikka Bowls and Tacos is preparing to open this fall at 10131 San Jose Blvd., Unit 8, at Crown Point Plaza shopping center, where renovations are underway at the roughly 2,000-square-foot storefront vacated by Berndt Ends BBQ , which closed last year and relocated to Palatka.

There, the new restaurant joins Tony’s Cantina Mexican Grill , Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop , Smallcakes Cupcakery & Creamery and Nudo at the Mandarin shopping center.

Founded and owned by brothers Bhavin and Krupal Patel, Tikka Bowls and Tacos also has locations at 4820 Deer Lake Drive W. in Tapestry Park on the Southside, 155 Fountains Way, Suite 4, in Saint Johns and a franchised restaurant in Arlington, Texas.

“We are hoping to be open by Oct. 1 if not sooner,” Bhavin Patel told the Times-Union.
