Marker 32, fish camps owners debut new barbecue restaurant with a view of the St. Johns

A newly opened Jacksonville barbecue from veteran husband and wife restaurateurs promises “Good Food, Good Views & Good Times.”

Billy Jack’s BBQ , 9560 Heckscher Drive, features fresh-from-the-smoker ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken, turkey and sausage as well as four homemade sauces.

But that’s just the beginning.

Baskets of fried shrimp, fish and clam strips along with daily specials, such as country fried steak and other Southern comfort fare, round out the menu of the barbecue joint overlooking the St. Johns River near Fort George Ferry Landing in North Jacksonville.

Billy Jack’s is the ninth restaurant from founders and co-owners Chef Ben and Liza Groshell of Southern Table Hospitality , their family-owned Jacksonville restaurant group.

The Groshells’ other restaurants include fine dining Marker 32 in Jacksonville; AB Kitchen operated by their two sons in Atlantic Beach; Valley Smoke in Ponte Vedra Beach; Dockside Seafood Restaurant in Jacksonville Beach; and Julington Creek, North Beach , Palm Valley and St. Augustine fish camps.
