‘Sales just weren’t there’: National sandwich chain’s Mandarin restaurant abruptly closes

The Bobbie has left the building.

A year and a half after its Jacksonville debut, Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop abruptly shut its doors at 10025 San Jose Blvd. in Crown Point Plaza shopping center.

A sign taped to the restaurant’s front door on Sunday announced the restaurant is “permanently closed.”

In addition, the location is no longer listed on Capriotti’s corporate website .

Franchise co-owners Skyla and Shawn Seagroves opened the sandwich shop ― known for its signature, freshly roasted Thanksgiving-style turkey sub The Bobbie ― in January 2023. It was Capriotti’s sole sandwich shop in Northeast Florida.

Skyla Seagroves told the Times-Union on Sunday that the sandwich shop suffered from a lack of brand recognition in Jacksonville which contributed to not being able to establish and sustain enough business to remain open.

“Our biggest problem was that people just still didn’t know that we were there or who we were. That was kind of our biggest struggle because Capriotti’s is a new name in this area,” she said.
