Be a ‘Storm Trooper’ and Foster a Pet During Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene is approaching Florida and Storm Troopers are needed! Now is your chance to help. All you have to do is open your heart and your home to foster a shelter pet during the storm this week. Most animals are already suffering anxiety and fear from the lonely, confusing shelter life. With an added storm and the possibility of a hurricane, it’s just too much for some of them to bear in a shelter. Alone, afraid, and confused they need your love to restore their hope and get them through the incoming storm.

The Jacksonville Humane Shelter is asking families to serve as “Storm Troopers” to help the shelter animals. You can host a dog or a cat in your home for a sleepover and allow them to ride out the storm in the comfort of your home instead of the shelter.

If you can help out, stop by The Jacksonville Humane Shelter on Wednesday, Sept. 25th between 12-7 p.m. There will be staff members available to help you find just the right buddy for your stormy sleepover. Pet Food is provided to each Foster. While you’re comforting them, you never know, you may find a much-needed friend. They’re hoping to stay open, but as conditions deteriorate it is reccomended to call or email them prior to visiting.
