About Olive Garden In Florida: Olive Garden was actually founded by General Mills in the early 1980s. By 1989, it was the fastest-growing restaurant chain at that time. It became a brand of Darden in 1995.

The chain serves traditional Italian fare but is probably best known for its neverending breadsticks and salad.
