A Jamaican & Caribbean food truck in Duval County, Florida, cited for 12 violations

Jam Bros Caribbean Cuisine, the popular food truck known for its jerk chicken and oxtail specialties at 3794 Blanding Blvd in Jacksonville, is working to address violations found during a recent health inspection.

The November 1, 2024, routine inspection by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation revealed 12 violations – 4 high-priority, 4 intermediate, and 4 basic infractions. A follow-up inspection on November 6 showed improvement, with only 3 remaining violations requiring further review.

Among the high-priority issues were proper food handling procedures and temperature management. Inspectors noted small flying insects in the food preparation area, unsuitable employee handwashing between handling uncooked and cooked foods, and oxtail being held at 92°F instead of the required 135°F.

State records revealed that Jam Bros Caribbean Cuisine quickly handled several issues on-site, including proper food storage and employee beverage placement. The inspector also took the opportunity to educate employees on proper handwashing procedures.
