The Minnesota Vikings are catching a break as Jacksonville Jaguars’ quarterback Trevor Lawrence is out for Sunday’s game, according to The Athletic ‘s Dianna Russini.
It also could be the first of many weeks as the franchise quarterback reportedly could miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury, Russini reports.
Lawrence came out of last Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles with an injury to his left (non-throwing) shoulder. Reports circled at the beginning of the week that he could miss the Vikings game but Lawrence practiced in a limited capacity throughout the week and earned a questionable tag before Russini’s report Sunday morning.

Lawrence was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and is the Jaguars’ franchise quarterback, signing a five-year, $275 million contract extension in June. But Lawrence and the Jaguars have limped to a 2-7 start and Lawrence’s completion percentage (61.3%) and passing yards per game (222.7) are his worst since his rookie season.
