Searching for the silver linings in a disappointing Jaguars season

As bad as this season has been, (and it’s bound to get even worse on Sunday upon visiting the Lions at Ford Field), there are plenty of reasons to hold onto a sliver of hope for the future. After all, wasn’t it Andy Dufresne’s character in Shawshank Redemption who stated, “hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”

Here are some reasons why it’s okay to “hope” for a better future even after a treacherous 2-8 start this season.

The Jaguars have remained competitive throughout the season. Six of their losses have come by five points or less.

Currently, the Jaguars are almost guaranteed to secure a pick near the top in April’s draft.

The Jaguars have discovered a future star wide receiver in Brian Thomas Jr., who is tied for 11th at his position with 607 receiving yards so far. His 5 touchdowns rank 8th among rookie wideouts.

Nothing will ever be worse than the disaster that was Urban Meyer.

Sunday’s opponent in Detroit went 32 years between playoff wins. If feeling down, simply replay the recent wildcard win against the LA Chargers.
