Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, veterans and supporters gather to remember the fallen, honor those who serve, and teach children the value of freedom.
This year’s event was Saturday, Dec. 14, at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Christmas wreaths were placed by the headstones of thousands of veteran graves, honoring the 21,000 veterans who rest in that hallowed ground.
The public was invited to Wreaths Across America Day to experience this tribute to our fallen servicemembers, enjoy the beautiful setting, meet people dedicated to honoring our military and take part in our mission to remember the fallen.
According to the national Wreaths Across America website, Jacksonville participants joined more than two million volunteers and supporters who gathered to remember, honor and teach at more than 4,600 participating locations in all 50 states, at sea and abroad.
