‘After many unforgettable years,’ downtown Jacksonville restaurant planning to close

More than nine years after taking over a former downtown Starbucks space, Super Food & Brew – popular for its healthy take on gastropub fare – is planning to close.

The restaurant, located on the ground floor in the 11 East Forsyth building, will close on Dec. 31, its owners announced in an Instagram post late last week.

“After many unforgettable years, it’s with mixed emotions that we announce the closure of Super Food and Brew on December 31 st ,” the post read. “This journey has been extraordinary, made possible by your unwavering love and support. You’ve been more than customers – you’ve been family.”

In addition to a dozen or more sandwiches and salads, the restaurant’s menu offered a variety of poke, tofu and other healthy bowls and a handful of entrees.

Like a number of other downtown and urban core restaurants, Super Food began as a food truck before making the leap by then-owner Sale Stoudt to its brick-and-mortar location in May 2015. Since then, the restaurant has undergone a couple of ownership changes, according to state licensing records.
