JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has opened a new exhibit with two animals that move a mile a minute.
The zoo is welcoming Ruth, a 7-year-old female Linnaeus’s two-toed sloth, and Chata, a 29-year-old female Hoffman’s two-toed sloth. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the difference is largely that Hoffman’s two-toed sloth’s throat is pale and the Linnaeus two-toed sloth’s throat is dark. Neither species are considered endangered.
The new habitat is inspired “by lush rainforests and filled with vines, greenery, a solarium-style section, and climbing structures,” which encourages more natural movement and relaxation, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens said in a press release…
