Clay County Commuters to Face Road Closures and Delays Amid Multiple Infrastructure Projects

Clay County is gearing up for a series of road and lane closures that are sure to impact daily commutes. Starting in mid to late May, drivers can expect daytime single-lane disruptions along Plantation Oaks Boulevard in Oakleaf, specifically from Oakleaf Village Parkway to the roundabout at Oakleaf Plantation Parkway, due to a milling and resurfacing project that’s about to get underway, according to the Clay County official website.

Adding to the travelers’ list of potential headaches, Radar Road in Fleming Island is slated to see the construction of a new two-lane roadway later this summer, promising to connect U.S. 17 with Town Center Boulevard, complete with biking lanes, and drainage features. Also starting soon, anticipate closures on Oakleaf Village Parkway stretching from the Clay/Duval County line to just past Plantation Oaks Boulevard, to facilitate a milling and resurfacing project anticipated to span two weeks, weather permitting.

In terms of ongoing county projects, the expansive work on County Road 209 (Russell Road) continues to press on, with intermittent lane closures peppering the stretch from Peters Creek Bridge to US 17. As indicated on the county’s news release, the focus on this broad project is to revamp the current two-lane passage into a four-lane drive complete with a median, bike lanes, sidewalks and other enhancements, all projected to be finalized by Fall 2025…
