Off-duty firefighter calls in fire in his neighborhood in St. Augustine

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — St. Johns County Fire Rescue teams responded to a residential structure fire Thursday in St. Augustine after an off-duty SJCFR battalion chief, who lives in the neighborhood, spotted the flames and reported the incident.

The fire happened in 300 block of Summercove Circle. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a fire outside the home that had already spread into the attic. Crews launched an “aggressive attack” on the blaze, SJCFR said.

Firefighters also performed ventilation to release smoke and heat from the building. All occupants had self-evacuated before fire personnel arrived, and no injuries were reported…
