Five people were injured in a shooting in Jacksonville yesterday evening when an altercation between two groups of women escalated, resulting in gunfire. According to First Coast News, officers responded to the 5400 block of Avenue B around 8 p.m., following reports of a shooting where witnesses described the suspects’ vehicle as possibly a Nissan.
Two of the injured men arrived at a local hospital via private vehicle, with one suffering a gunshot wound to his backside and the other in the leg, both expected to recover, and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office identified a third victim, indicating that their injuries were also non-life-threatening while their Crime Scene Unit processed evidence at the site, and detectives started canvassing the area for surveillance video and additional witnesses. As reported by News4Jax, the three individuals who suffered gunshot wounds appeared to be bystanders, law enforcement officials are searching for three possible suspects in connection with the incident, which they believe to be isolated.
Further providing details of the incident, investigators shared that the violence stemmed from a verbal altercation among several women that turned physical at a Northside convenience store; after an initial group left and returned, one passenger opened fire into the crowd, causing injury to two of the men.
