‘Operation Southern Slow Down’ anti-speeding campaign targets Florida drivers

If you’ve noticed more cars pulled over on Jacksonville-area highways and roads this week, there’s a reason.

As part of its annual “Operation Southern Slow Down” weeklong effort to bring awareness to the dangers of speeding, Florida’s law enforcement agencies are cracking down on drivers speeding through traffic.

The Florida Department of Transportation, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and local law enforcement agencies around the state are “targeting driver behavior through heightened enforcement efforts and public safety messaging,” according to an FDOT news release…
