Jacksonville opens cooling centers, offers free rides as residents continue to deal with high temperatures

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville residents are facing another sweltering day as the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory starting at 11 a.m.

With temperatures soaring, city officials are urging everyone to take precautions and make use of the resources available to stay safe, including two designated cooling centers for anyone needing relief from the heat.

The locations are at the following buildings until 6 p.m. on Sunday.

  • Main Jacksonville Public Library (303 N. Laura Street)
  • Legends Center and Gymnasium (5130 Soutel Dr.)

No registration or identification is required—just walk in and cool off…
