JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The majority of our region will be under a Heat Advisory from noon to 6 p.m. today, as temperatures are expected to soar into the upper 90s. Expect the feel-like temperatures to be between 108°F and 111°F during those peak hours. Little to no rain won’t provide any relief today.
High heat index brings safety concerns—here’s how to prepare
With these extreme conditions, you are encouraged to take simple precautions:
- Drink plenty of water
- Apply sunscreen regularly
- Never leave pets or people in vehicles—even for a short time
- Wear light, loose-fitting clothing
- Take regular breaks, especially if working or playing outdoors
- Try to finish outdoor chores before 10 a.m. when temperatures rise rapidly
Remember, heat-related illness can happen quickly in these conditions, so stay alert to your body and those around you.
Once the sun sets, temperatures will drop into the upper 80s before settling in the mid-70s.
Sunday’s forecast is just as hot! Relief from the high heat and dry conditions will roll back into the forecast by Tuesday.
