The chance of a disorganized weather system developing in the Atlantic has risen slightly heading into July 21. However, for Jacksonville, the likelihood of tropical development in the Central Tropical Atlantic over the next few days remains low.
“Environmental conditions are marginally conducive, and any development should be slow to occur while the system moves generally west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph.” the National Hurricane Center said in their Tropical Weather Outlook, which currently gives the area a 20% chance of development over the next week.
More pressing is the extreme heat, which forecasters say poses the greater threat. Florida continues to be under a heat advisory as scorching temperatures linger following a sweltering weekend.
