Group of Six Charged in String of Jacksonville Shootings That Left Dog Dead

In August 2024, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office District 6 officers responded to a shooting on Park Avenue, where suspects opened fire on an occupied home, fatally striking a Great Dane named Naomi on the front porch.

Through ballistic evidence and information from the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN), detectives identified two suspects: 19-year-old Logan Kurlin and 22-year-old Nathan Kizer. A stolen Hyundai Sonata was also recovered in the investigation.

Interviews with the suspects revealed the existence of a group of friends connected to multiple shootings across the city. Investigators linked the group to 11 separate shooting-related cases, some previously unreported…
