Nassau shooter in triple murder-suicide is now dead, fund set up for child and families

The man who mercilessly killed his wife, mother-in-law and sister-in-law in Nassau County is now dead from his self-inflicted injuries and a GoFundMe has been set up for the victims’ surviving family members, including the 5-year daughter who ran to a neighbor’s for help.

“The family we lost were cherished individuals who brought joy and love to everyone around them,” according to the family’s social media fundraising site. “We lost a devoted mother (Marissa Leara Rowell), who was a guiding light for her five-year-old daughter, a loving first-time grandmother (Sandra Gayle Fogarty) who waited her whole life to have a granddaughter in her life, and a devoted aunt (Alisha Lael Fogarty) who was crazy for her niece and loved spending hours playing games with her and being by her side like a sister.”

Sheriff Bill Leeper said he wasn’t aware of any previous domestic-related calls to the Hilliard home but that it was a heartbreaking tragedy that didn’t have to happen.
