On June 11, members of the Jacksonville community were rocked by the sound of gunfire in a restaurant parking lot on Southside Boulevard. Tragically, the violence claimed the life of Kenneth Mobley, Jr., a 38-year-old father who was close to celebrating another year of life.
Detectives from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit sprang into action, assessing the scene, piecing together witness accounts, and examining evidence with the intention to quickly identify a suspect. Their efforts led them to zero in on 24-year-old Josiah Luis Martinez as the alleged perpetrator. As reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, “Detectives interviewed witnesses and carefully examined evidence to identify the suspect: 24-year-old Josiah Luis Martinez.”
In due course, on Friday, a warrant was issued for Martinez’s arrest. Then, on Monday, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force, Martinez was apprehended and incarcerated at the John E.
