Man sentenced to 20 years for 2022 murder of Jacksonville mother found floating in Marco Lake

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The man who confessed to killing Beverly Febres, the Jacksonville mother who was found dead floating in Marco Lake in July 2022, has changed his plea to guilty and was sentenced Monday.

Kamaree Singleton, 23, was the second suspect arrested for the Febres’ murder. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office originally arrested the wrong man, Febres’ boyfriend, Dedris Wesley.

Charges against Wesley were dropped when an investigation led police to Singleton, who confessed to the murder.

Police records say that before her death, Singleton got into a fight with Wesley. Febres intervened and shot at Singleton, and the bullet grazed him “on the side,” according to an arrest report…
