Nephew-Uncle Duo and Accomplice Nabbed for Stealing Appliances from Jacksonville Construction Site

In what appears to be a family affair gone wrong, a nephew-and-uncle duo, along with an accomplice, have found themselves on the wrong side of the law after swiping appliances from a Jacksonville construction site. As reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Donald Bartley, 36, his uncle Bruce Bartley, 61, and their accomplice Melvin Jackson, 39, are accused of stealing over $13,000 worth of appliances from an apartment complex on Merrill Road.

Detailed in a press release from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the trio was caught on camera arriving at the site. Driving a red sedan, the nephews showed up with Bruce Bartley and were soon followed by Jackson with a rental truck. Together, it is alleged, they loaded up the truck with the appliances and took off.

Investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Specialized Property Crimes Unit recovered a rental truck and stolen merchandise just one day after the reported theft. Working with the rental company, officers located the vehicle approximately 13 miles from the crime scene with the stolen items still inside.
