In the fall of 2005, I joined my brother, Chris, our dad, Rob Sorensen (a fire captain with decades of service), and a team of dedicated volunteers as we set out on a mission. We packed up the Firehouse Subs Bus and an 18-wheeler full of food and water to drive from Florida to Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina.
Like so many Americans, we were heartbroken by what we saw on the news, but seeing it in person was gut-wrenching. The destruction was overwhelming, but so was the courage of the first responders and survivors who refused to give up…
