JSO Auto Crimes Unit Investigation Uncovers Backyard Operation, Recovers Multiple Stolen Vehicles
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) has successfully shut down an illegal “chop shop” and arrested a convicted felon following an investigation that began with a stolen vehicle recovery.
Detectives from the JSO Auto Crimes Unit initiated their investigation when a victim, who had unknowingly purchased a stolen car from Facebook Marketplace, came forward. This discovery led to a search warrant at the suspect’s home, where authorities uncovered a backyard operation described as a “chop shop.”
According to a JSO release, the search revealed multiple vehicles with removed Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs), several stolen cars, and four catalytic converters. Deputies say the man was taken into custody and is now being held at the Duval County Jail, facing a variety of felony charges…
