Man Arrested After Firing at Businesses and Deputies in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, Fla.—A 63-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly fired a handgun at several businesses and pointed it at deputies, leading to an officer-involved shooting.

On August 30, Mark Allen Gulden, 63, was involved in an altercation with a firearm in Orange Park. The Orange Park Police Department issued a “Be on the Look Out” (BOLO) for him and his vehicle.

Shortly after, Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies located a similar vehicle at the Clay Electric Cooperative building. As deputies approached, they saw Gulden actively firing a handgun at the building and gate controls. Deputies gave verbal commands to drop the weapon, but Gulden pointed the firearm in their direction. One deputy then fired a single round, which did not strike the suspect. Gulden then threw the firearm on the ground and was tased and taken into custody without injury. The deputies were not injured…
