Yulee Woman Charged with Aggravated Assault After Alleged Road Rage Shooting on US 17

A 27-year-old woman, identified as Chelsea Andrea Roland, was arrested following a reported road rage incident on U.S. Highway 17 in Yulee, according to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office. News4JAX reported that on the evening of September 11, deputies responded to a 911 call about someone shooting at least three shots at a vehicle on the roadway.

The investigation led to the discovery of security camera footage, obtained by the victims’ video equipment, showing what seems to be Roland’s vehicle turning from State Road 200 onto US 17. The incident escalated when another vehicle, while passing Roland’s in the right lane as the two-lane road merged to one lane, became the target as Roland allegedly sped up and crossed into the southbound lane. The video appears to capture flashes from a gun being shot, as noted by First Coast News.

Authorities later conducted a traffic stop on Roland’s vehicle on the I-95 North on-ramp. During this encounter, deputies claimed to have located a handgun in the glovebox of Roland’s vehicle. She was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Additional charges include discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, reckless driving, and possession of a controlled substance.
