JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Strong north winds will continue to whip across northeast Florida and southeast Georgia through Saturday night, bringing gusts up to 45 mph and the risk of scattered power outages. The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has extended a Wind Advisory for the region through 5 a.m. Sunday, covering Duval, Flagler, St. Johns, Nassau, and Glynn counties.
According to the National Weather Service, sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph with frequent gusts between 40 and 45 mph will persist as a tight pressure gradient remains in place along the Atlantic coast. The combination of gusty winds and high surf could also cause minor coastal flooding and beach erosion, especially near high tide.
Residents should secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and garbage bins before winds strengthen again Saturday afternoon.
