Born October 5, 1925, on Tutson Lane, Bessie Tutson Thomas reached a remarkable milestone this month, celebrating her 100th birthday with over 200 loved ones who gathered to honor the occasion.
“MaBessie” was an original resident of Magnolia Gardens subdivision near Edgewood Avenue, where she resided for 74 years. She was educated in Duval public schools and shared a marital union to Ernest Thomas for 63 years, together they raised six daughters. She retired after 40 years of employment with the DCPS and is a longtime member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist church.
