Man Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash on Jacksonville’s Southside as Duval County Traffic Death Toll Increases

A tragic turn of events on Jacksonville’s Southside resulted in a man losing his life after a vehicle collision. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Monument and Lee Roads, when a man in his 50s, driving a Kia SUV, collided with a Jeep driven by a woman in her 30s.

The incident unfolded as the Kia, while making a left turn onto Lee Road, met the Jeep that was heading east. The woman’s vehicle overturned, finding its resting place in an empty retention pond. In information obtained by First Coast News, the aftermath saw the Jeep, “laying on its roof on the side of the road.”

Emergency response teams transported both drivers to the hospital. Tragically, the man sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. As reported by Action News Jax, the woman is currently “in stable condition.” Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office did not suspect speed to be a contributing factor to the accident…
