JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville City Council plans to consider extra funding for the nonprofit Feeding Northeast Florida to help families stay afloat during the government shutdown. Although the government took its first steps Sunday toward reopening, it could take time to happen, and even longer for SNAP funds to roll out in full.
Councilman Ron Salem and Councilman Kevin Carrico introduced a bill to allocate $200,000 to the organization due to the increased food demand.
